JAMMU, JANUARY 11: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar, today emphasized officers’ role in using IT for easing government functioning and reinforcing transparency in services delivery.

The Advisor was speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony of capacity building trainings imparted to officers and organized by Information Technology Department in collaboration with National Institute of Smart Governance (NISG).

The trainings were attended by over 60 senior officers of various departments of the State Government, addressed issues of security in handling the internet and IT devices in today’s age. The training on process reengineering, sensitized senior officers about making work flow in the government shorter, simpler, more efficient and speedy.

Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar gave away the certificates to the participants at a joint closing ceremony after conclusion of the trainings.

The Advisor congratulated the IT Department for having conducted the training programs on Information Security, Project Management and Government Process Re-engineering in the last one month and also other trainings in Information Technology during the year.

The Advisor highlighted the importance of Cyber Security at a time when the State government is graduating to e-Governance and smart governance in a big way. Presently over 100 G2C services are being offered online. The land records are being digitized, he said.

He added that the offices are moving towards digitization and adopting e-tendering for procurement purposes. e-Governance is penetrating down up-to the panchayat level and thus have multiplied the need of precautions to be taken for safe transaction of government business. The need for simplifying government processes with a view to making them faster, and hassle-free for the citizens cannot be overemphasized.

During the function, the Advisor interacted on a one-to-one basis with all the participants and also reviewed case studies of process reengineering presented by a group of Deputy Commissioners, Avny Lavasa, Piyush Singla and Owais Ahmed, who were participants in the training.

Secretary Information Technology, Saugat Biswas, while speaking on the occasion, informed that the J&K e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA),Department of IT has collaborated with professional agencies such NISG, NeGD, NIIT with a view to raise the standards of Capacity building and making the trainings relevant to the contemporary requirements.

He added that the series of trainings, which commenced from mid December, 2018 witnessed participation of over 250 officers positioned at strategic levels such as Principal Secretaries, Commissioner Secretaries, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners, Directors, Senior Superintendents of Police etc and took benefit from interactions with experts of national repute. He said this year the IT department has already trained more than 550 government officials.

Biswas informed that J&K e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA), Information Technology Department has successfully organized training programes on different themes. During the last 6 months, more than 240 employees which include 180 officers from Secretariat and 60 officers/officials of district administration Leh & Kargil were trained on basic Information Communication Technology(ICT) course. Further 60 employees of State Taxes Department were also trained on basic IT tools related to the implementation of GST Network in the State. Moreover in the present initiative concluding today more than 250 officers were trained on Government Process Re-engineering, Project Management, Information and Cyber Security Management.

The certificates among others were presented to Secretary Cooperatives Abdul Majid, Commissioner Secretary CAPD Dr. Abdul Rashid, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, DC Shopian Owais Ahmad, DC Ganderbal Piyush Singla, DC Ramban Showkat Aijaz, Director Information & Public Relation Department Tariq Ahmad Zargar and Additional Secretary Technical Education Niraj Kumar.
