Tangmarg villages up in arms against PDD for pesky power cuts

Pulwama, Jan 10: Residents of several villages in Aripal Tehsil of Tral area in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday complained about frequent power outages since last few days.

Local from Syedabad, Wagad, Dharmgund , Aripal , Satoora, Nargistan, Darganie Gund, Lam, Gutroo, Gadpora, Hajan  and surrounding villages told Kashmir Images that they would get electricity as per the winter schedule of PDD but from past one week they have been subjected to frequent outages of long hours.

They appealed the higher authorities of Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure electricity as per schedule in their areas.

When contacted Executive Engineer Awantipora said: “The areas fall under the jurisdiction of Executive Engineer Sub Transmission Division (STD) Pulwama. I will bring the issue in his notice.”

Executive Engineer STD Pulwama, Ferooz Ahmad, said that outages in these areas are due to overload.
