Srinagar police arrests 9 gamblers

Pulwama: One person was caught hold by people and then handed over to police on Thursday for vandalising a local shrine in Pulwama district.

Local sources said that the windowpanes of the shrine of Sufi saint Syed Latif-ud-Din Anbali (RA) in Pahoo village were damaged and curtains were tore last night.

Locals, who came out early morning for Fajar prayers caught hold of a suspect who was later handed over to Kakapora police station.

Some sources said that the youth has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Muhammad Usman Lone of Udipora Khudwani Kulgam.

Interestingly the detained youth has a Ph.D in History and has even qualified NET.

Police is busy investigating what prompted such a qualified man to indulge into such an activity.
