Kupwara youth athlete team brings home 9 medals

Kupwara, January 09: A team of nine athletes from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district bagged 3 gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 3 bronze medals in north India Pencak Sikat Championship-2019 held at Panchayat Bhawan Hirsar Haryana.

General Secretary of Pincak Silat Association Kupwara, Aadil manzoor, said: “Zakir Ahmad Wani and Soazan Nazir bagged gold medals. Damin Manzoor, Aatif Manzoor and Syed Faizan bagged silver medals while as Pakiza Sakhi, Rifat Aman and Zubair Ahmad Sofi bagged bronze medals for their team.”

“All the medalists have been also selected for All India Pencak Sikat Championship-2019 which is scheduled to be held at Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar from 10th Feb 2019,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the team has participated in different Championships at state and national level and have brought laurels to J&K state.

Coach of the association, Syed shakoor, has congratulated all the athletes for their impressive performance.
