Two girls attempt suicide after failing Class 12 exams

Srinagar, Jan 08: Two girls attempted suicide in Bandipora and Sopore areas after failing in Class 12 exams results of which were declared yesterday.

An 18-year-old girl (name withheld) tried to commit suicide in Qazipora village of Bandipora by consuming some poisonous substance at her home Tuesday for failing to clear Class 12 exams.

“She was shifted to district hospital Bandipora from where she was referred to JVC Srinagar for specialized treatment. She is under observation at JVC,” said an official.

Another 18-year-old girl on Tuesday morning tried to commit suicide in Batpora area of Sopore after she also failed to clear class 12 exams.

An official said the girl tried to commit suicide by jumping into river Jhelum near Batpora area.

“However, she was rescued by timely action of some locals and was shifted to SDH Sopore for treatment. She is stable now,” he said.
