JAMMU, JANUARY 08: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today chaired 14th meeting of J&K Standing Committee of State Board for Wildlife, here today.

The meeting was attended by DGP J&K Dilbag Singh, Commissioner Secretary Forests Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Shahid Inaytullah, Secretary Tourism Rigzin Sampheal, PCCF J&K Suresh Chugh, other members, officers of Forest & Wildlife and other concerned departments.

During the meeting, important proposals related to Wildlife Department were placed before the Standing Committee for discussion and consideration.

Chief Conservator of Forests & Member Secretary, J Francoi briefed the meeting about the proposals along with other necessary details.

The proposals include diversion of 1.98 hectare forest/wildlife land coming under the alignment of construction of 3.6 km bridge over river Chenab at Sajwal at Jourian in Jammu to be executed by PWD department at an estimated cost of Rs 119.67 crore and diversion of 0.73 hectare forest/wildlife land coming under the alignment of proposed Rs 2.37 crore  Sumal to Sarail Choa road in Mansar Block of Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary.

Threadbare discussions were held on the proposals and relevant details regarding the projects were also sought from the Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) and PMGSY, the executing agencies for the projects.

After thorough discussions and keeping in mind the importance of the projects, the Standing Committee approved the proposals placed for consideration as per the term and conditions laid down by the wildlife department.
