Farm women imparted training in Tie and Dye

JAMMU, JANUARY 07: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies (SKUAST) Jammu, organized a two day Vocational Training programme on “Tie and Dye” here today.

Around 20 farm women will be imparted training in dying methods and taught the process of different tying techniques. Demonstrations on dying of different cotton fabrics like handkerchiefs, scarf, dupattas, pillow covers and bed sheets were conducted during the programme.

Assistant Professor, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Dr. Neelima Gupta, was the resource person.

The training on tie and dye techniques was imparted to rural farm women of Mawa village to enhance their skills and enabling them start own small businesses.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Neerja Sharma, Subject Matter Specialist explained the importance of rural crafts and establishment of small scale enterprise by forming small self help groups.

Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Samba, Dr. Vinod Gupta, highlighted the achievements and activities of the Kendra.
