Sources said that on a specific information regarding presence of militants, security forces cordoned Aripal village. They said that the forces were fired at from a house triggering an encounter.

One CRPF man was reportedly injured, sources said, and the house was blasted by the forces.

However, no militant body was retrieved from the debris till late, added the sources.

Earlier, thousands of people had marched towards the gunfight site following rumours about the death of a Hizb commander Hammad Khan.

Forces resorted to aerial firing to chase away the marchers.

So far officials are tight-lipped over the militant casualties, however sources said that two to three militants were trapped in the area.
