DC Budgam takes stock of snow clearance

BUDGAM, JANUARY 05: District Development Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today conducted an extensive tour to take stock of snow clearance, restoration of power and availability of essential other commodities in the district.

During her visit to various areas, the DDC said that both men and machinery were put on job from Friday evening to ensure all major and link roads are cleared on war footing basis to make them through for the general public across the district.

She said that 85 per cent power supply has been restored across the district and remaining would be restored by the evening.

She said that the restoration of electricity supply to district hospital, sub district hospitals, PHCs and other health institutions was made on priority.

She directed the PHE department to ensure scheduled water supply to all towns and villages and deploy tankers in areas where the supply has been affected due to the snowfall.

The DDC emphasised on the regular supply of ration to the people and directed FCS&CA department to ensure there is no shortage of LPG, K-oil and Petrol anywhere in the district.

During her visit to Budgam town, the DDC directed concerned to clear snow from footpaths and interior roads also under snow clearance work.

The DDC stressed on the beautification of the Old Bus Stand and Parking place at Budgam and instructed concerned to launch drive against illegal hoardings and banners from the parks, walls and poles. She also instructed the concerned to ensure removal of road encroachments to ensure hassle-free vehicular movement.

The DDC also directed concerned to launch garbage removal drive from open fields including at Sheikhpora and Humhama areas and install dustbins at these places for the same.

The DDC also visited the District Hospital Budgam and took stock of the health services being provided to the patients there. During her inspection to various wards including emergency, operation theatre, ECG and Post Operation wards, the DDC directed concerned MS to make proper heating and bedding arrangements to the patients. Stressing on cleanliness and sanitation at the hospital the DDC directed on proper waste and garbage disposal.

At the outset, the DDC also announced that two critical ambulances would be provided to the hospital for better patient care.

The DDC also met various patients and enquired about health facilities being provided to them, listened to their grievances and gave on spot directions to the concerned for prompt redressal.

She directed the CMO Budgam to personally visit all the major hospitals of district to ensure better health facilities are being provided to the patients.

The DDC was accompanied by CMO Budgam, Dr Nazir, MS Hospital Dr Deeba, Executive Officer, MC Budgam, Anees Chowdary and officials from R&B, Mechanical, PDD, PHE and FCS&CA departments.
