Snowfall: DC Sgr takes firsthand appraisal of arrangements in late-night inspection tour

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 04: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, late night on Friday toured the City areas to take first-hand appraisal of response mechanism put in place to deal with challenges following snowfall in the summer capital.

Senior officers of MED, PWD, PHE, SMC, PDD, UEED, Traffic and Health Department accompanied the DC and briefed him about their respective action plans to ensure quick dealing with challenges which might arise out of prevailing weather situation in the district.

The DC visited various parts of the City and inspected several important installations – of mechanical engineering, medical-care, power and water – equipped to deal with different kinds of concerns and problems that might arise out of the weather situation. He also visited SMHS and LD hospitals during the visit.

Dr. Shah issued specific instructions to the officers of SMC, Fire & Emergency and UEED to ensure swift dewatering of all water-logged areas and directed the Traffic department to ensure maximum police deployment for effective handling of traffic situations and smooth traffic movement in the City. He also stressed on ensuring there is close coordination between the line departments.

The DC said ADC Srinagar (9419151189), ACR Srinagar (7006690719), SDM East Srinagar (9018991010) will function as nodal officers to monitor the situation within their respective areas of jurisdiction.

He said the administration is well-prepared to deal with challenges of prevailing weather situation in the district. He said the general public can report their related concerns at helpline numbers 7051112345 and 9419042342.
