Vehicle with illicit timber seized in Rafiabad

Baramulla: Continuing its drive against timber smuggling, a forest team led by Range officer Doabgah on Tuesday night seized a vehicle carrying large quantity of illicit timber in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad during naka checking.

Official sources that a Tata mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK05 B/1238 loaded with illicit timber was on way to lower belt of Rafiabad when the officials intercepted the vehicle by erecting night check post  and seized it.

Sources however added that the driver along with his associates managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness.

Meanwhile, sources said an FIR number 2/19 U/S 6 F act 379 RPC has been registered in Dangiwacha Police Station and the accused have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Ganaie alias Ganie, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganie, Din Mohammad Lone son of Abdul Rehman Lone, Mohammad Iqbal Darzi alias Dar son of Ali Mohammad Darzi all residents of Nadihal Rafiabad.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the escaped smugglers, sources said.
