Pulwama: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was shot dead in Hanjan Payeen village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening.
Confirming the incident a police official said that militants fired upon the SPO namely Sameer Ahmad Mir son of Wali Mohd Mir resident of Hanjan Payeen village at around 7:45 pm near his house.
He died on the spot, he added.
Pertinently, on 29 December last year four Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were killed and one house was raised to the ground in an encounter at same village where the SPO has been shot dead.
