JTGC bids adieu to 2018 with Golf Tourney

JAMMU, DECEMBER 30: Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) organized Bye Bye December Golf Cup 2018 to bid adieu to the year 2018 and welcome the New Year with a fresh resolve to promote Golf and create awareness about healthy living.

According to Secretary JTGC, Hitesh Gupta, 60 players participated in today’s tournament divided into 15 four-balls including one four-ball of children below 12 years of age. The participants included members of Jammu Tawi Golf Course as well as other Golfers from across the State.

Secretary, Tourism, Rigzian Sampheal was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He appreciated the participants of the tournament and gave away prizes to the winning players.

The awards for the Straight Drive went to Hemant Sharma, Longest Drive went to Arihant Bhardwaj, nearest to the Pin went to Manav Sharma. Manav Sharma was also adjudged the overall winner and Khurshid Badoo was adjudged runners up. One player who played best among each four ball was also awarded winner’s trophy, those included Umesh Gupta, Arihant Bhardwaj, Ravindra Dhar, Abhinav Chandra, Ashkoor Wani, Harbinder Singh, SD Singh, Omar Nisar Ganai, Manav Sharma, Dr Gurpreet Singh, Firdous Ahmad, Khurshid Badoo, Dr Anil Slathia. Amonst fourball of children, Anang Bhansal was adjudged the best player.

Secretary Tourism complimented Secretary JTGC for successfully organizing the event. He urged the Secretary JTGC to further improve the facilities in the Golf Course.

He said JTGC in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism, Jammu is also organizing Jammu Mahotsav Open Golf Championship on 9/10th February 2019.

The JTGC Members acknowledged the efforts of Secretary Tourism for taking up the matter with the Finance Department for arranging resources for Cart Paths for the course, various machineries and taking up pending works of the JTGC for funding through JKIDFC under “Languishing Projects”.

Jammu is fast emerging as a golfing destination for tourists across northern part of the country. Jammu Tawi Golf Course is one of the most scenic and challenging golf courses located on the left bank of river Tawi, nestled in the hillocks and forests of the Shivalik Range.
