Rana exhorts teachers, parents to guide children about sports participation

JAGTI (NAGROTA), DECEMBER 29:  National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Devender Singh Rana, on Saturday exhorted teachers and parents to guide the children about which sport they should participate in, while keeping in view their interest and aptitude.

“The idea should be to inculcate spirit of sportsmanship among children at the threshold of their schooling”, Rana, according to a statement issued here, said at the first annual sports day function of DRS Kids School, Jagti in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.

“Rana appreciated the enthusiasm of young kids in extracurricular and cultural activities and urged the school management to provide all necessary support in making them versatile in every sphere. Though in the basic stage of education, the kids should be acquainted about various games, he said while emphasisng on the parents and the teachers about importance of the sports, which are not only imperative for mental and physical growth of children but also opens up vistas of opportunities for them as they grow,” reads the statement.

“The Provincial president complimented the management for organising annual day sports event in a befitting manner, saying that these remain treasure for the students and their parents all their life. He appreciated the cultural programme including music, dance and singing of patriotic songs.  Alongside kids, their parents also participated in various activities like Mom Race for mothers and musical chair game for fathers,” it said.

He also lauded the role of private sector in supplementing the effort to impart quality education to children, saying extension of such facilities to rural areas is commendable.

Supinder Kour, Master Franchise of the DRS Kids presented welcome address and said the management has taken all necessary steps to ensure congenial atmosphere for the kids to play and study.

Principal of the DRS Nagrota, Gagandeep Kour presented the annual report, highlighting various activities of the institutions.

The Annual Sports Day Function started with lighting of traditional lamp by Devender Singh Rana and other members of the management besides prayers by the kids, donned in colorful costumes.
