Govt to setup Vehicle Inspection, Certification Centre in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 29: To ensure vehicles playing on the roads meet the standard requirements for safe driving, Transport Department has decided to setup state-of-art inspection and certification centre in Kishtwar besides giving special route permits to new private vehicle owners to bring in more vehicles on roads to curb overloading in the Chenab valley.

This was stated in a meeting here chaired by Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Transport Departments, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana, Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Victor Kaul, Director Sheep Husbandry Dr Sanjeev, Director Fisheries R. NPandita, Director State Motor Garages, Zakir Hussain, Chief Planning Officer Yasir Balwan, ARTO KishtwarAbay Sharma and other concerned.

During the meeting, Dr. Samoon took exception of frequent accidents on the district roads and directed for strict enforcement of traffic rules.

He directed ARTO Kishtwar to intensify checking on roads and cancel the licenses of serial offenders.

Dr Samoon also conducted an extensive tour of the district during which he checked the crash barriers erected on black spots on Batote-Kishtwar road with transport officials and discussed the ways of preventing incidents in future.

He said that the Government has recently allotted Rs 10 crore for strengthening the fleet of buses in the district so that bus drivers don’t resort to overloading.

Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana assured the meeting that two kanals of land will be allotted for vehicle inspection and certification centre.

Later, Dr. Samoon visited Veterinary Hospital Kishtwar and inspected laboratory of veterinary Hospital, Poultry Hatchery Farm, and cold storage room here.

He asked concerned officers to setup livestock entrepreneur units and promote sustainable livestock farming and encourage the entrepreneurs in the district.

He further directed concerned department to establish Liquid Nitrogen plant in the veterinary hospital.

He further visited various private local dairy farms and interacted with locals, farmers, youths and heard their issues and demands.

Dr. Samoon also visited DulHasti Dam and was informed that 40,000 seeds were deposited in the dam to increase fish production in the area.

On the occasion, DrSamoon said that Kishtwar has huge potential for different fishes particularly trout fishes. He directed for encouraging youth to adopt fish farming on the commercial level so that unemployed youth would get employment and will cater to local demand of fish.

He also visited sheep breeding farm Thathri and under construction site of polyclinic at Thatri and asked officials to expedite the construction so that it is completed within the set deadline.

He asked for setting up new and strengthening existing laboratories for fisheries, and livestock besides referring vacant sanctioned posts in all departments.

Earlier, Principal Secretary during the visit to Batote directed SRTC officials for construction of bus yard on allotted seven kanals of land.

Later, he also visited the shrine of Hazrat Shah Farid ud Din (RA) and Shah Asrar Ud Din (RA) and paid his obeisance here.
