According to a spokesman of the Cooperative Department, during the inspection, the Secretary was informed about the dismantling of the grill by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) which was raised by Cooperative Department to safeguard its land from encroachment by vendors.

“As reported by the Super Bazaar staff, the grill has been removed without issuing the notice to the Department and following the proper procedure as prescribed under rules,” Bhat said adding that the land in question is owned and in possession of Super Bazaar as per the revenue records and approved building plan.

The spokesman said that the Secretary Cooperatives directed the Registrar Cooperatives to take up the matter with JMC and get the land re-fenced after taking appropriate legal measures.

The Registrar Cooperatives informed the Secretary that the matter has already been taken up with JMC authorities and the complaint regarding encroachment of the land by street vendors was also lodged by the General Manager Super Bazaar in the concerned Police Station.

Meanwhile, Secretary Cooperatives has personally also taken up the matter with Commissioner JMC who has assured of the necessary action in the matter.
