Anantnag, December 28: PDP Chief Spokesperson and former MLA Pahalgam Rafi Ahmad Mir on Friday expressed grief on the fire incident that broke out in Pahalgam market, damaging a dozen shops.
In a statement issued here, Mir said that the fire and emergency services of Pahalgam need to be overhauled with dynamic response system as it is not the first fire incident.
He said that today’s loss is of great magnitude affecting the livelihood of shopkeepers who have no other source of income.
Mir said the locals of Pahalgam have played a pivotal role in immediately containing the fire, “youth of Pahalgam have showed courage by risking their lives to douse the fire”.
Mir said that government should assess the damage and grant immediate relief to the shopkeepers.
The PDP Chief Spokesperson also thanked district administration and DDC Anantnag for visiting the spot for assessment of damage and coordination with the locals.
