45 Broiler units provided under NLM at Sopore

Rs 22.50 lakh disbursed for poultry sheds

BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 28: Animal Husbandry   Department today provided 45 Broiler units comprising 600 birds to the beneficiaries under National Livestock Mission here at Sopore.

Three hundred birds were provided in the first phase while 300 more birds will be provided to each unit holder by next month.

The function was chaired by Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir, Dr. M.Y. Chaproo. Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Baramulla, Dr. K.M. Kirmani, doctors and field staff of the department and the farmers were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the director appealed the unemployed youth to avail benefits of various employment schemes and open their ventures. He said that the government is taking all measures to cut the poultry imports and for this a huge number of units are being set up in the State. He said the aim is to provide gainful employment to educated unemployed youth   besides to combat the shortage of the poultry and mutton.

Earlier, the director interacted with the unit holders and explained to them various schemes in vogue.

The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer  said that 90 Backyard layer units have already been distributed under National Livestock Mission in the district raising the total number of such units to 135.He said that Rs 30000 each have also been provided to the unit holders for construction of poultry sheds in the district.
