134th Congress Foundation Day Celebrated at Congress HQ

PCC Chief, senior leaders attend function

Jammu, December 28: A colorful function was held at the Congress HQ here today to celebrate 134th Foundation Day of the party.

In a statement issued here, a PCC spokesman said: “PCC Chief G.A. Mir presided over the function while most of the senior leaders including Ministers, PCC functionaries, Corporators, office bearers of DCC Jammu Urban & Rural, Block Congress Committees, Congress Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress attended the function.”

Addressing a gathering PCC Chief congratulated the party Cadres over the foundation day of the party which was founded on this day in 1885.

He said that Congress party has a history of struggle and sacrifices for the Nation during the 133 years. It united the entire country under one Umbrella to attain freedom and there after laid strong foundation of this country, which has emerged as one of the strong nations in the world, in seventy years after freedom.

Mir said that Congress ideology based on secularism and ‘unity in diversity’ is the only way to keep the country strong and united. He lashed out at the divisive policies of BJP which have created divisions in the society. He said that under young leader Rahul Gandhi Congress has proved that the Modi led BJP would face a tough time in the 2019 elections, as the falsehood and fake propaganda against congress is getting exposed with every passing day. The recently held assembly elections of 5 states have proved to be a turning point in the politics of the country and Congress cadres are reenergized by the tremendous support and dynamic leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

“Former Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand in his address recalled the struggle of the Congress party for the freedom of the Country and in the post-independence period for the unity and integrity of the nation. He said Congress is the only force in the country which can carry along all sections of the society and represents diversity of the Country,” reads the statement.
