Sopore, Dec 27: Family members of a woman who gave birth to a “stillborn baby” on Thursday alleged medical negligence of doctors at sub-district Hospital (SDH) Sopore for the death of the baby. However, the health officials have denied the charges.

Speaking to Kashmir Images, brother of the women, Zahoor Ahmad, said: “On 27th December we went to SDH Sopore as my sister was suffering from labor pain. We had advised doctors for quick treatment, but instead, a nurse and a lady doctor gave painkiller injections to my sister which provided immediate relief to her.”

“The next day, my sister again complained of pain and we took her to a nearby private clinic where one lady doctor recommends her to undergo a USG and the USG report, according to the lady doctor, revealed that a 9-month old baby had died inside the mother’s womb,” he added.

“We took the patient straight to SDH Sopore where we staged a protest and demanded for immediate action against the doctor who is involved in the death of baby,” said one of the relative of Zahoor Ahmad.

When Kashmir Images contacted Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sub-District Hospital Sopore, Dr Sami, his phone was out of reach and meanwhile he did not respond to any of the messages sent by this reporter.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo, told Kashmir Images that he has asked BMO Sopore to file a report in this regard. “If the doctors will be found involved in any negligence, we will take necessary action against them,” he said.
