Srinagar, Dec 27: Former Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University, Professor Hamidi Kashmiri passed away late last night, a family source said. He was 86.
Kashmiri was a recipient of the Ghalib Award and Sahitya Akademi Award (2005).
The Government of India had honored him in 2010 with the third highest civilian award of Padma Shri.
Former Power Development Department (PDD) Commissioner, A K Raina also passed away late last evening in Jammu.
Raina, who was a recipient of the President’s medal, breathed his last after brief illness in Jammu.
