Srinagar, Dec 26: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, has strongly condemned the arrests and nocturnal raids in Pulwama and alleged that the security agencies had wrecked havoc by arresting people on fabricated allegations.

A press release issued here quoted Sehrai as stating that ‘coercive measures’ cannot deter people from following their ‘cherished mission’. He also alleged that New Delhi was responsible for pushing Kashmir youth, including those pursuing degrees, to the wall. “New Delhi continues to ignore the basic reality and ground situation which can be gauged from the fact that highly educated students are quitting their studies and resorting to other means of resistance to fight the worst form of oppression,.” Sehrai said.

“In chilling cold people are being dragged from their houses and frisked and paraded in open is a brazen act of state aggression,” Sehrai said adding that such suppressive steps would never discourage the people of Kashmir and resistance leaders from ‘taking the struggle to its logical conclusion’.

Alleging that Kashmir was converted into the ‘Guantanamo bay’ prison, by Indian authorities, Sehrai said that the situation was indicative of the fact that Indian was holding the worst ever military operation in Kashmir.
