Srinagar, Dec 24: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday held the meeting of its senior leaders and functionaries at the party’s head office here in which state’s present political situation and measurers vital for party’s overall growth were discussed at threadbare.

A party spokesman in a statement issued here today said that addressing party functionaries, PDP Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri said that it has always been the cardinal principle of the PDP to continue pitching for dialogue and reconciliation so that the state could be saved from violence and pillage.  He added that muscular policy for Kashmir has never yielded any results and has instead proven counterproductive.

The meeting also discussed the measures which at present are needed to be taken to strengthen the party on ground. It also held the detailed discussions over the party’s forthcoming strategy to defend the Article 35-A and safeguarding of state’s unique position, said the spokesman.

“The participants also hailed the persistent efforts of the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti for making defense of 35-A at the supreme court her prime concern  and standing firm on her resolve to defend Jammu and Kashmir’s integrity at all costs,” the spokesman said.

Veeri also asked the party leaders to speed up their activities and hold constant consultations with ground level workers and activists at their respective constituencies, added the spokesman.
