Div Com Jmu reviews Republic Day arrangements

JAMMU DECEMBER 22: Divisional Commissioner   Sanjeev Verma today chaired a meeting of senior officers to review the arrangements for the Republic Day, 2019 celebrations.

IGP Jammu Dr S D Singh Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, SSP Traffic Joginder Singh, senior officers from Army, Air Force, Information, Municipality, Education, PHE, PDD, R&B, Hospitality and Protocol, Youth Services and Sports, Health Services and other allied departments attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that the main function would be held at Jammu University Ground where the flag hoisting ceremony would be held followed by March past and cultural programmes.

SSP traffic informed about the traffic management plan for the smooth flow of traffic on Republic day.

Youth Services and Sports authorities apprised the Div Com about the presentation of cultural items and march past comprising contingents of school students, army, police and others.

The Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon all agencies to ensure that necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth and successful celebration of the National festival.

He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure sanitation/cleanliness of the venue besides establishment of sufficient number of mobile toilets. He asked the Information Department to ensure wide publicity and coverage of the event through print and electronic media.

Issues like transportation of school children, security, sitting arrangements besides setting up of control room at Stadium were also discussed threadbare at the meeting.

The Div Com directed YSS to intimate the schedule of rehearsals including date wise requirements of buses to Div Com office to ensure all arrangements well in time. He also directed to provide refreshment to participating students.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the meetings regarding display of tableaus by different departments have already been convened to finalize the themes.

Health and Fire Services was tasked to make available sufficient number of ambulances alongwith para medical staff and Fire Tenders at the venue. Hospitality and Protocol Department was directed to ensure proper sitting arrangements for VIPs and general public.

The Floriculture department was directed to ensure flower decoration of dice besides PWD was asked to ensure barricading at the venue.
