Poonch: An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle at Sabra area of Mendhar along the Line of Control (LoC)  in Poonch district.
“ASI Satpal Jaswal (49) of 72 BSF D Coy posted at forward area near Checka Gali in Sabra today at around 9:20 am shoots himself inside an bunker while he was on duty,” official sources told GNS, adding that the the officer suffered serious injuries in the incident.
Following the gunshot, the colleagues rushed towards the officer and found him in a pool of blood, he said, adding that the officer was immediately taken to nearby health hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Station House Officer (SHO), Mendhar Inayat Ahmad confirmed the incident.
It could not be immediately known why the officer took this extreme step, he said.
Meanwhile, the officer said that a case has been registered and further investigations have been taken up. (GNS)
