DDC Kupwara flags off 120 farmers for exposure tour

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 15: To acquaint farmers with latest technology and agricultural know-how, a group of 120 progressive farmers of different areas of Lolab valley were today flagged off for one-day exposure tour here by District Development Commissioner, Khalid Jehangir.

The tour has been organised under National Mission for Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET) during which the farmers will visit SKAUST Wagoora.

While interacting with the farmers, the DDC impressed upon them to imbibe the use of latest technologies and replicate it in fields for increasing their production. He stressed for adopting eco-friendly practices in the farming to realize the goal of sustainable agriculture.

Informing about the programme, AEO Lolab, Bilal Qayoom Shah said that the programme aimed at improving the yield of agricultural production, besides realizing the ambition of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022. He said that these farmers will interact with scientists and other agricultural experts to know about various agricultural practices including vermicomposting, greenhouses etc.
