64th NSG in Football concludes, Chandigarh lifts trophy

Jammu, Dec 15: The six day long 64th National School Games (NSG) in Football concluded here.

The U/17 age group Football Championship was organised by the Department Of Youth Services and Sports under the aegis of School Games Federation of India.

The finale of the mega Football tourney was played on Paloura BSF ground. The state team of Chandigarh outplayed the state team of Bihar by 2-0. The outstanding strikers of the Chandigarh team managed to score two important goals in last ten minutes of the final match.

Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar was chief guest on the concluding ceremony of the tournament. He appreciated the organizers for the successful Conduct of the National Level Championship. He hoped that such sporting events will be conducted in future as well on the soil of the state. Director General of Youth Services and Sports Department Dr Saleem ur Rehman while presenting vote of thanks applauded the role of field staff of the Department of Youth Services and Sports and all those Departments whose support played a vital role in the conduct of the tournament with proficiency.

Two colorful cultural items were presented by the students of local private schools of Jammu district.

The state team of Kerala got third place in the tournament. 37 teams from different states and union territories of the country participated in the National Level Championship.

Certificates of appreciation were distributed among the senior officals of School Games Federation Of India (SGFI) for their excellent support in the proper organization and conduct of the Football Tournament.

Azhar Hajini conducted proceedings of the valedictory ceremony of the tournament.

Additional Secretary to Department of Youth Services and Sports Rajnish Kumar, Secretary J&K State Sports Council Naseem Javaid Chowdhary,

Youth Services and Sports Department’s Joint Director Kashmir Bashir Ahmad, Joint Director Jammu Madan Lal, Chief Accounts Officer Ab Qayoom and other field staff of the Department was also present on this occasion.
