Youth succumbs at SMHS; Pulwama civilian death toll reaches to seven

Battling for life for 12 days, critically injured Kangan youth succumbed at SKIMS

Srinagar: A youth from Pulwama who was admitted at SMHS hospital here in Srinagar succumbed to his injuries, taking the civilian death toll to seven.

The deceased has been identified as Touseef Ahmad Mir son of Asadullah Mir of Urchersoo Pulwama. Touseef was injured in forces action in Sirnoo and was taken to district hospital Pulwama where from he was referred to SMHS Srinagar, however, he succumbed later due to grave injuries.

Sources also identified the sixth civilian as Murtaza Bashir of Prichoo, Pulwama and his body is lying in district hospital Pulwama presently.

Earlier, five civilians were killed and over a dozen suffered injuries in the government forces action near the site of the gunfight at Sirnoo area.

They have been identified as Liyaqat Dar of Parigam, Suhail Ahmad of Ballow, Shahbaaz of Monghama, Pulwama, Amir Ahmad Paul and Abid Hussain Lone, an MBA pass out from Indonesia were killed as government forces resorted to live ammunition besides pellets and tear smoke shells near the encounter site to chase away the protesters.

Following the killing of seven civilian in Pulwama, authorities have decided to snap internet service across south Kashmir even as speed would be reduced elsewhere in Kashmir.(GNS)
