Handicrafts dept urges dealers to register shops

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 12 Directorate of Handicrafts today urged upon all the handicrafts dealers, carrying out their business in various tourist areas of State to register their shops with the office.

In an official handout issued here, the dealers were directed to adhere to the rules of Tourist Trade Act, 1978(82) and refrain from indulging in any kind of malpractice which include cheating, dishonesty, touting, impersonation, charging exorbitant prices, failure to display price on the labels, failure to give cash memos etc.

It was also said that the inspection teams would closely monitor all such business activities and action as warranted under J&K Tourist Trade Act 1978 shall be initiated against defaulters.

The department also carried out an inspection of various businesses during which an amount of Rs two lakhs as the fine was recovered from the dealers found violating the norms of the Tourist Trade Act.
