Sports hone and exhibit youth talent: DIG NKR

Baramulla: Amid winter sports fervor, a month long first North Kashmir Cricket Championship-2018  organized by Jammu and Kashmir Save Youth Save Future -a youth organization at Showket Ali sports stadium Baramulla in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district concluded on Thursday in which 62 teams from trio districts of north Kashmir participated.

In the final match of the championship, after winning the toss KCC Kanispora scored 128 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, while chasing the target DC XI scored 131 runs for the loss 6 wickets in the nail biting final clinch. Jahangir Lone of DC XI won main of match as he scored 57 runs from 45 balls, while as Zahoor Rashid Lone of Sheeri of BCC Reds was awarded main of the series award.

Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir Atul Kumar was the chief guest while as DC Baramulla Dr. Nisar Naqash, Director Planning A G Malik, SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, Commander Mountain Brigade Brigadier Gariesh Kalia, Fashion Designer Shahid Rashid were guests of honour besides officers from police and civil administration and large gathering of sports lovers were present on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering of sports lovers, students, prominent citizens, officials of the police, Army and district administration, DIG North Kashmir Atul Kumar said such sports festivals provide platform to youth to hone and exhibit their talent and sport skills and the need of the hour is to organize such events with more frequency.

He said that such activities will go a long way in inculcating sports culture among the youth and will lay a strong foundation for a peaceful atmosphere.

SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Hussain,   “This type of events in which sports is major part not only makes the person physically agile and alert but also help in mental growth owing to the inculcation of brotherhood and sense of harmony and cooperation,” he added.   “Like sports contests are struggle we have to look into life as struggle,” he added.

Reiterating its commitment for promoting sports activities Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Save Youth Save Future   Wajhat Farooq said that our organization extremely endeavors in engaging more and more youth in sports activities.

“These types of events help our youth in keeping distance from ill and hazardous practices and social evils besides maintaining their physical fitness.

He expressed gratitude of various civil departments and sports councils in making the championship a grand success and said that various initiatives have been taken by the J&K JYKF in channelizing the potential of our youth.

“I express my thanks to all people who in whatever manner supports us in conducting his festival,’ Wajhat Farooq of JKSYSF said.  Prizes were distributed among various players who excelled in different events organized during the period.
