Phase-VII of Panchayat Polls draws 75.3% turnout

Jammu, Dec 04: The Phase-VII of Panchayat Polls held today witnessed an overall poll percentage of 75.3 across the state with 30.3 percent electors voting in Kashmir division and 84.8 percent exercising their franchise in Jammu division.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shaleen Kabra, in Kashmir Valley Bandipora witnessed 25.2 percent polling today, Kupwara 45 percent, Baramulla 17.8 percent, Ganderbal 30.9 percent, Budgam 13.1 percent, Anantnag 15.5 percent, while in Jammu, Ramban witnessed 83 percent, Reasi 86.7 percent, Samba 85.5 percent, Jammu 83.7 percent, Rajouri 84 percent and Poonch 86.6 percent turnout.

Kabra said in the Phase-I of Panchayat Polls held on 17 November 2018, 74.1 percent polling was recorded across J&K including 64.5 percent in Kashmir division and 79.4 percent in Jammu division.

In the Phase-II of Panchayat Polls held on 20 November 2018, overall 71.1 percent polling was witnessed across the State with an 80.4 percent polling in Jammu division and 52.2 percent in Kashmir division.

He said in Phase-III, the State witnessed a poll percentage of 75.2 percent including 55.7 percent in Kashmir division and 83.0 percent in Jammu division.

In Phase-IV, he said, JK witnessed 71.3 percent voting with 82.4 percent electors exercising their franchise in Jammu division and 32.3 percent in Kashmir division.

In the Phase-V of Panchayat Polls overall poll percentage of 71.1 percent was witnessed across the State with 85.2 percent polling in Jammu division and 33.7 percent in Kashmir division.

In the Phase-VI of Panchayat Polls overall poll percentage of 76.9 percent was recorded across J&K including 17.3 percent in Kashmir division and 84.6 percent in Jammu division.
