Kansal reviews progress on ADB-funded development projects

Asian Development Bank team conclude 4-day visit to JK

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 30: Principal Secretary Planning, Development & Monitoring, Rohit Kansal discussed the progress of various ongoing and proposed development projects in the State at a meeting with the visiting delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The delegation was led by Atsushi Kaneko, Senior Portfolio Manager, ADB. Project Implementation Officer (INRM-ADB) SaugataDass, Urban Specialist Momoto Nitta Gupta, and senior officers of ERA and other line departments were also present on the occasion.

Principal Secretary held elaborate discussion with the members of ADB team about the ongoing and future projects in the state. The delegation also briefed the Principal Secretary about their tour in the state and the projects reviewed by them. The team expressed their satisfaction over the pace of developmental projects being funded by ADB.

Rohit Kansal appreciated the support being provided by ADB in the development process of the State. He also assured the delegation that all possible help will be provided to ERA to complete the ongoing projects well in time. He directed the concerned departments to maintain the quality and work in synergy so the projects could be completed in a stipulated time

It is pertinent to mention that the team of ADB was on a four-day visit of state from 26th of November.

During the visit, the team reviewed the ongoing development projects being funded by ADB in the State under Jammu & Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Programme (JKUSDIP). The projects included construction of Flyover at Jahangir Chowk-Rambagh, construction of Grade Separator at TRC Srinagar, Storm Water Drainage Project at Athawajan and adjoining areas and Sanitary Land Site at Achan and various Sewerage and Water Supply projects in Jammu.

The team also visited the Mechanized Car Parking at KMDA Srinagar which was completed by ERA at an estimated cost of Rs 27 crore. The car parking has the capacity of 288 Light Motor Vehicles and was commissioned in May 2015. The team was also informed about the revenue being generated by the parking of vehicles at the facility.

The visiting team also convened a meeting with the senior officers of JKERA and other line departments including PHE, R&B, UEED, SDA, SMC and Fisheries regarding the projects to be processed under Jammu & Kashmir Infrastructure Development Projects (JKIDP).

Director ERA Kashmir Showkat Wani informed the visiting team about the steps being taken by ERA to expedite the pace to work at Jahangir Chowk Rambagh Flyover and Storm Water Drainage Project at Athawajan.
