Sopore, Nov 29: At least three youth were injured after massive clashes erupted in Botingoo area of Sopore in north Kashmir soon after the conclusion of Panchayat polls on Thursday evening.

According to witnesses, as soon as government forces along with the polling staff started leaving from the Botingoo area, a number of youth assembled near the polling booth and started pelting stones on them.

They said that after forces came under heavy stone-pelting, they resorted to tear-gassing and fired pellets leaving three protesters injured.

All the three injured persons were moved to Sub-district Hospital (SDH) Sopore for treatment, wherefrom doctors referred one among them to Srinagar for advanced treatment.

Block Medical Officer, Dr Sami, told ‘Kashmir Images’ that three persons, who had received pellet injuries, were brought to SDH Sopore from Botingoo.

“Farhad Bhat, son of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat of Botingoo Sopore, who had received pellet in his left eye was referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment while two others are being treated here,” he added.
