SRINAGAR, NOV 21: In order to boost and give platform to budding writers of valley, a daylong event “Speak Out” was organized by ‘SAVE’, a non-profit organization (NGO), here in Srinagar.

The event was sponsored by the ‘Lieper Publication’, Kashmir’s first-ever self-publication house of Kashmir.

The event was aimed at giving space to budding writers by letting them showcase their work. Participants from across Kashmir participated in the event. Majority of the work was presented in poetic form. The work was presented in English, Urdu and Kashmiri language.

The work presented by the participants was diverse in nature and covered topics like hope, love, separation, freedom, humanity, and death.

Faiqa Aiman, 21, one of the participants said it was for first time in her lifetime that she took part in a part where she could showcase her work and listen to diverse opinions of young and talented writers.

“I am an introvert and passionate about writing and my participation in the event helped me to overcome my social anxiety. I got a chance to showcase my writings and the response that I received here really boosted my confidence,” said Faiqa.

Another young writer, Mir Saima, 20, said that such events are very important for knowing the diversity of writing genres in Kashmir. “When it comes to writing, Kashmir has got immense talent but the place lacks a platform where writers can stay connected. It was a great experience for me to come across the work of young writers, hailing from different parts of the valley,” she added.

The organizers of the event said the main aim was to bring the new generation of writers together to share their work and create awareness about how to get their work published.

Talking to the ‘Kashmir Images’, Faheem Bhat, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder, Lieper Publication, said Valley is full of young writers who have to face a lot of problems in publication process because they lack awareness about it.

He further said we will examine the work of each participant and the best work will get published. “In such events, we select the work of participants which is later edited by experts and finally published,” he added.
