Nambla Uri: Amid stringent security and political vehemence, Sarpanch Constituency of Panchayat Nambla–B of frontier Block Uri record 82.45 percent polling in repoll held on Thursday following the election violence which disrupted the counting process leaving several injured on Saturday.

Official sources said that out of 1356 including 714 male and 642 female, 1118 voters incldhing 574 female and 544 male voters exercised their right to franchise. Two candidates are contesting the as Sarpanch in Nambla village of Uri which recorded poll percentage of 82.45.

They said that on 17th of November elections were held in the Uri including in Nambla B village, however when the counting of votes were underway two groups clashed after Congress supporters attacked counting centre as Congress candidate  lost by two votes in close and tough contest in Panchayat polls for Nambla B village.

Officials several people were injured while as some people damaged voter slips in during counting process and also damaged the school building of government higher secondary school Nambla.

After that the returning officer ordered re polling in the area and re elections were held on Thursday in which 82% voters cast their votes.

Election officer JK said repoll is also being held for Sarpanch Constituency of Panchayat Nambla–B, Block Uri in district Baramulla and for Sarpanch Constituency .

Counting of votes is underway at Uri club amid tight security.
