Civilian abducted in Shopian, set free later
Srinagar, Nov 18: A youth, who was earlier in the day abducted by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, was released on Sunday evening.
A police official said that suspected militants abducted Suhail Ahmad Ganie, son of Sheeraz Ahmad Ganie from Meemender village on the outskirts of Shopian early Sunday morning. However, he was set free around 6 pm, reports said.
Ganie’s abduction was seventh during past three days.
On Saturday, one of the five persons abducted from two separate villages in Shopian district was killed while four others were set free.
The slain was identified as Huzaif Ashraf of Saidpora Payeen village.
On Thursday night, another civilian was killed after abduction. A video purportedly released by the Hizbul Mujahideen on social media showed the militants opening a volley of bullets on Nadeem Manzoor of Safnagri.
