DDC Poonch kick-starts Senior Men Volleyball Championship

POONCH, NOVEMBER 15: District Development Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav, today inaugurated the three-day J&K Senior Men Volleyball Championship here.

The state-level Championship is being organized by Shaheed Mangit Singh Memorial Club Poonch under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K in Coordination with J&K State Sports Council.

As many as 16 Volleyball teams drawn from all over the state including one state police team are in the fray for clinching the title.

In this Championship selection of Volleyball team (Men) will be made for participation in National Volleyball Championship at Chennai.

The matches are being played on a league-cum-knockout basis as per Volleyball Federation of India guidelines.

Earlier, a rally on Drug Abuse and its effects was taken out in and around Poonch town to aware the masses especially youth about the ill effects of substance abuse. The rally was organized by the J&K Excise Department of district Poonch which culminated at the venue of Championship.

A total of 200 Volleyball players /officials are participating in the Championship from across the state.
