South Kashmir worst hit by development deficit: NC
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar, 10 November 2018: National Conference on Saturday expressed dismay over the excruciating development deficit and erratic electricity supply in south Kashmir.

In a statement issued from party headquarters Nawa-e-Subah, State Secretary Sakina Itoo said that the developmental works in south Kashmir are worst hit due to the apathetic attitude of the incumbent administration. “The districts of south Kashmir are worst hit by developmental deficit. The roads are in shambles and the laid-back attitude of government is further aggravating the situation,” she said.

Sakina itoo said that the unreliable power supply and inconsistent water supply has become a norm in south Kashmir areas. “It seems that administration has left the poor to fend for themselves. The student community is among the worst sufferers, they find it very difficult to pursue their studies,” she said.

She said that the already appalling situation has been worsened by the recent ill-timed snow fall which left marginalized farmers and orchardists wailing. “The vagaries of weather played havoc with the standing crops of farmers and orchardists who had pinned all hopes on the annual produce to pay for their expenditures and debts,” she said.

The Central Secretary implored upon the administration to hasten the process of assessment of losses to farmers before the onset of harsh winter. “The administration has announced that affected farmers shall be recompensed suitably. The need of the hour is to ensure that every affected farmer rises again on his feet. The compensation should be comprehensive, timely and to the satisfaction of farmers and orchardists,” she said.
