Also another Soibugh resident, Hashim Ashraf secured silver in the 48 kg category. He lost final to a player from Portugal.

Talking to Kashmir Images, the coach of Budgam duo, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh said, “It’s a proud moment for us. Our players are participating in international competitions and are emerging victorious.”

He added that despite lack of facilities, the coaches are also trying their best to train players in the kickboxing.

Meanwhile, two other kickboxers, Irshad Ahmad and Aabroo Bashir from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district also bagged silver medals.

All the players are currently in South American country, who will arrive in Kashmir after few days.

It is pertinent to mention that in 2016, an eight-year-old Tajamul Islam won gold in the World Kickboxing Championship in Italy.
