The EC inquired from the officers about the progress of snow clearance works underway on the highway and urged upon the snow clearance team to further step up their efforts so that the highway is opened for vehicular traffic at the earliest.

The snow clearance team informed the EC that snow clearance work has been started from both sides of Penzila. They further said that snow has been cleared from Kargil side up to the base of Penzila and from Zanskar side up to the Penzila Top.

Tashi was further informed that the highway is expected to be opened for vehicular traffic within the next 2 days time.

He hailed the efforts of the snow clearance team for their untiring efforts in the road clearance operations. The EC gave on spot instructions to the concerned officers to make necessary arrangements for spraying soil and to keep labourers in readiness to overcome slippery road conditions.

Meanwhile, the EC has urged the stranded passengers in Kargil and Zanskar to move to their respective destinations by 12th and 13th November 2018.
