AMK organizes 39th Annual Kashmiri Conference

Ganai stresses on voluntary collective efforts for preservation of kashmiri language

 SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 03: Adbe Markaz Kamraz (AMK) today celebrated its 39th Annual Kashmiri Conference themed ‘Kashur tehzeebuk badalvun Anhaar, Khadshe te imkanaat’ at Tagore Hall here.

Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai was the chief guest on the occasion and Vice Chancellor Islamic University Prof. Mushtaq Sidiqui was guest of honour. The inaugural session was presided over by noted writer and critique M Yousuf Teng.

On the occasion, Advisor Ganai lauded the effort of Adbee Markaz Kamraz in bringing stakeholders together to deliberate upon the issue of vital importance. He said voluntary collective efforts from within the society can play a much potent role in the preservation and promotion of cultural ethos in which language plays a pivotal role.

He said that “we as Kashmiris need to play our role to preserve our mother tongue as it is through this that we will be able to preserve our culture.”

He instructed the Director School Education Kashmir, who was also present in the conference, to ensure that the government order regarding teaching Kashmiri as a compulsory subject in class 9th and 10th is implemented in letter and spirit.

“We as a society need to form self-help groups that will function and play part in preserving language, ecology, environment and other issues,” he added.

Advisor on the occasion also assured the audiences of taking up their demands of setting up of art gallery in Kashmir and ensuring that the Kashmiri language is taught at secondary and higher secondary levels.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by President (AMK) Farooq Ahmad Rafiabadi and Prof. Farooq Fayaz made the introductory speech while the annual report was presented by Secretary (AMK) Shabnam Tilgami.

Homage was paid to Atiqa Behenji, Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari, M Ehsan Ahsan, Saifi Sopori and several others who died preceding year.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Central University Kashmir Prof. Mehrajuddin was the chief guest in the second session, Dr Altaf Hussain was guest of honour and the session was presided over by Retd. Justice Hasnain Masoodi.

A special number of AMK’s ‘Prava’ on Mohammad Ehsan Ahsan was also released during the conference by Retd. Justice Hasnain Masoodi.

Awards were also given on the occasion; Dr Aziz Hajni was felicitated with Sharf–e–Kamraz 2018 for his multi-dimensional contribution in the promotion of Kashmiri language and literature. Several other personalities and Sopore based Women organization Majlis ul Nisa was also awarded during the conference. Khilat I Hanfi sopore award was presented to Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, prominent religious preacher Moulana Ghulam Rasool Hami and Jeelani Kamran. The award ceremony was presided by retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi. While as Dr Altaf Hussain and Basharat Bukhari were in the praesidium.

The award of best book was presented to Syed Akhtar Hussain Mansoor and Mohi Ud Din Hajni, Gold Medal was awarded to Shugufta Parveen for getting the first position in M.A Kashmiri.

Among others, MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami, MLA Langate Er Rasheed, Sahitya Academy award-winning poet Rehman Rahi, Principle Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbandry Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Former Chairman Public Service Commission M Shafi Pandit, noted Islamic scholar Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami, Prof Nirja Pandit, and Director Srinagar International Airport Akashdeep Singh were present on the occasion.
