DDC Bandipora conducts 3-day extensive tour of Gurez villages

BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 01: District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary conducted an extensive 3-day visit of Gurez, Tulel and Bagtore blocks and convened a number of public meetings aimed at efficient public service delivery.

SSP Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, SDM Gurez Sandeep Singh Bali, ACD Jahangir Khandey, Chief Education officer, ExEn PWD, ExEn PDD, ExEn PWD, ExEn MED, AD FCS&CA and other district and sectoral officers accompanied the DDC.

Public meetings were held at Kanzalwan, Izmarg, Dawar, Badwan, Barnai, Puranatulel, Tulel, Sheikhpora, Badugam, Hassangam, Baduaab, Tatrun and Gulshanpora in Gurez sub-divisions. Inspection of various developmental works including bridges, roads, schools, health infrastructure and roads was also conducted during the visit.

The DDC also chaired a meeting of officers at Gurez to review the winter preparedness including stocking of ration, Kerosene oil, HSD for DG sets, medicines, firewood, availability of stocks, placement of snow-clearance machinery, operationalisation of control rooms, and availability of various essential services in far flung areas. He also inspected the VSATs being installed at various buildings for the convenience of public and especially students.

Funds were provided for the development of six playfields, flood protection works, fire extinguishers as part of community based disaster response, tehsil office building at Tulel, snow clearance machinery, protection works in avalanche prone zones, procurement of essential medicines and several developmental works projected by the public. It was also informed that the public demand for establishment of cellular towers has also been taken up and installation will start soon. The DDC sanctioned an amount of Rs 10 Lakh for better BSNL connectivity in Kanzalwan-Izmarg to be facilitated through HCC by upgradation of infrastructure.

In view of public demand it was decided to increase power supply to 6 hours from existing 5 hours for the months of November and December. Two more DG sets are also being installed and several others repaired for improvement in power supply. It is pertinent to mention here that internal distribution network has been completed by department and process initiated for the transmission line to Gurez.

The DDC also convened a meeting of revenue officers to directed for prompt response to public demands. He commended their role in quick relief to families affected due to natural calamities. Meanwhile, revenue officers were provided IT gadgets, Tablet PCs, Law books, revenue books, bags and other basic items for effective public service. It was also decided that Patwaris, Girdawars and Naib Tehsildars will be provided monthly POL and stationery grants by district collectorate.
