Saubhagya Raths flagged-off in Leh

LEH, OCTOBER 31: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang and Chief Engineer PDD Leh Manhar Gupta today flagged-off Saubhagya Raths here aimed to electrify all left out households.

Under the Saubhagya Scheme, also known as Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna (PMSBHGY), Saubhagya Raths (vehicles) were flagged off at the same time through video-conferencing in all the three regions of the state today.

Chief Engineer PDD Leh said that the scheme is to provide electricity to every single household of Leh district. “Out of 7000 plus households in need of electricity connection, most of them have been covered, electricity poles for some of the places has already been sent, and the remaining left out households beyond the survey of the department will be covered by the Saubhagya Rath,” Gupta said.

The ‘Raths’ will travel throughout the Leh district for entire one month to inform people about this scheme and provide electricity connection within the month of November, he added.

Mainly all the connections will be connected with grid while solar lighting will be provided in case of far-flung areas.

During the flag-off ceremony, Executive Engineer PDD Vinod Kumar, Executive Engineer PDD Project Wing Tsewang Paljor, District Informatic Officer NIC Leh Tsewang Paldan, engineers and staff of PDD were also present and the entire video conferencing was arranged by NIC department Leh.
