According to the status of SAUBHAGYA (Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana) scheme in Kashmir division, the PDD has regularized 144360 illegal connections with effect from 11 October 2017.

Pertinently, the SAUBHAGYA scheme was launched in September 2017 with the aim to electrify all households in the country.

The scheme was meant to provide free electricity connections to below poverty line (BPL) households and the beneficiaries for free electricity connections were identified as per the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data.

It was said that a strategized action plan was adopted for achieving cent per cent electrification by providing electric connections to households requiring no additional infrastructure and by way of extending the existing LT lines for the remaining households as well.

Further, various other means were also adopted like energizing locally created LT networks through DG sets for households requiring the longer time for grid connectivity to ensure adherence to stipulated timelines and Solar Standalone off-grid solutions for households located in extremely remote and inaccessible areas.

Besides, a large number of camps were also organized in different villages across the Kashmir division including those located in border areas by the department during the last one year for the maximum public outreach.

On-spot electricity connections were provided during these camps and innovative methods like developing a mobile app for conducting e-survey of un-electrified households /e-registration of electric connections were also adopted.
