Sehrai reacts to Gen Rawat’s statement
“The statement reflects tyrannical mindset”
Srinagar: Chairman Tehreek E Hurriyat Mohd Ashraf Sehrai today strongly reacted to the statement of Army Chief Bipin Rawat that civilian protestors would be dealt sternly, saying the army has declared a full scale ‘war on civilian population to silence the freedom voices’.
In a statement issued here today, Sehrai said that Rawat’s statement that ‘Army is enough to ensure JK remains part of india’ is actually an admission that India holds onto Kashmir through the might of gun.
He denounced the forces’ action in Shopian and Kulgam where more than 40 people got injured including some women, during the search operations.
Reacting to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's statement that ‘Kashmiris should stand with Govt, not separatists’, Sehrai said: “The ongoing resistance movement is peoples’ movement which could neither be crushed in the past nor brushed aside.”
