Deebug Premier League concludes in Kunzar, Nazir-XI lifts title

Srinagar, October 28: Deebug Premier League organized by Shabir Ahmad Shiekh, Specially-abled, concluded here on Monday with Nazir-XI winning the final by defeating RCC Rambel 7 runs.

Sheikh who hails from Deebug Kunzar has a great expertise in cricket.  He is the only son of his parents. Fifteen years ago, he met with a tragic accident that left him paralyzed.

After this incident he started to guide the local boys to play cricket and made this as his daily routine. In this context he has been organizing different cricket tournaments in Deebug Kunzar from time to time.

The finals of two such tournaments were organized at Deebug cricket ground today.

Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Farooq Ahmad Shah was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Appreciating the efforts of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh for organizing such events, Farooq Ahmad Shah appealed the youth to take active part in such activities.

The Final of Deebug Super League Season 1st was played between Deebug Lions and Royal Ravanpora while as the second final was played between Nazir XI and RCC Rambel.

Nazir-XI won the toss and elected to bat and won the title by 7 runs. Shariq Mushtaq Malik was adjudged as the Man of the Match and Ashiq Ahmad Qara was awarded as Man of the Series.

The local people of the area have appreciated the efforts of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh in attracting the local youth towards sports activities. Shabir Ahmad Sheikh has appealed the sports authorities to provide all the requisite facilities at Deebug Ground which are necessary for the game of cricket.
