ADC reviews preparation under Khelo India at Kathua

KATHUA, OCTOBER 27: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Ghanshyam Singh, today convened a meeting with officers of Revenue and Youth Services and Sports department to review the preparations being made under Khelo India scheme.

While reviewing the preparations, the ADC directed the concerned officers to ensure maximum participation of youth in these sporting events as the scheme is launched to encourage sports among youth as it helps in holistic development of children besides strengthening the entire sports ecosystem of the region.

The ADC informed that ‘Sports for Peace & Development’- a vertical scheme of Khelo India – will be inaugurated at Sports Stadium Kathua on October 31  by Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria.

It was further informed that a total of six games per block will be played on the basis of interest shown by the sports person in that particular game. Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volley Ball, Athletic, Football and Wrestling were the events in which students from block Kathua, Barnoti, Hiranagar, Billawar, Bani, Duggan, Basholi and Malhar will participate.

The ADC called for putting a committed effort by all the stakeholders to tap the huge potential of the district in sports arena. He impressed upon the officers to encourage the youth, especially pass out and dropout besides school going students, to participate in sports activities for their better mind and body and earn laurels for themselves and the district.

He directed all the ZPEOs to check beforehand the facilities being available in the identified playgrounds. Transportation and refreshment for participating students were also discussed threadbare.

The meeting was attended by CEO Kathua, Bishan Singh, DYSSO, Sunil Kumar, Tehsildars of Kathua, Nagri, Billawar and Basholi beside ZPEOs.
