Unhappy with facilities, players in Ganderbal threaten to boycott Khelo-India scheme

District Football Association President appeals organizers to improve facilities    

Ganderbal, Oct 25: Lack of facilities in Khelo-India competitions came to light once again today when a player was badly injured during a football match held here at Madria Mehrban ground Ganderbal.

Players who were participating in the football match said that no ambulance was available at the venue of the match and the injured player was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

They said that a football player namely Basit Ahmad Mallah got injured during a match and to our surprise no ambulance was not available​at the venue.  “We will boycott​  the tournament if facilities are not improved.”

District Football Association Ganderbal President, Bashir Ahmad Dar said that I have been receiving complaints about the lack of basic facilities in Khelo- India football competitions. “I will raise the issue with the organisers.”

When this reporter contacted footballer, Basit Ahmad Mallah, who is admitted at Bone and Joints Hospital Barzulla and undergoing treatment for shin fracture he said that no one from the organisers body has approached him for any kind of assistance.

When contacted Youth Service and Sports district officer Gandebal he denied that there were any lack of the facilities. “Ambulance is available at Physical Education College about 4 km away from the venue.
