Thousands attend last rites of B’la militant

Baramulla: Thousands of people participated in funeral procession of slain militant  Akeel Ahmed Sofi son of Abdul Rashid Sofi of Khanpora Baramulla who was laid to rest in local graveyard of his native village on early Friday.

Akeel was killed along with his associate an unidentified militant in a gunfight at Athoora village of Kreeri in Baramulla outskirts on Thursday.

SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Hussain said “one of the killed militants in yesterday’s Authoora encounter has been identified as Akeel Sofi of Khanpora Baramulla who had joined militant ranks two months before.Another one is still unidentified.”

Eyewitnesses said that  thousands of people assembled at local graveyard at Khanpora village to participate in the last rites of Slain  militant.

Eyewitnesses said that the large of people attended the funeral procession of the Slain militant, amid sloganeering slian was laid to rest at a local  graveyard.

Meanwhile parts of Baramulla shuts to mourn the killing of two  militants.

With the killing of two militants schools and colleges are also closed in Baramulla as a precautionary measure.
