Srinagar: An army soldier of 22 Rashtriya Rifles received injuries in the ongoing operation in Sopore village of North  Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning, police said.

Reports said that one army soldier of 22 Rashtriya Rifles was injured during the initial exchange of firing which broke out in wee hours of Friday after forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Pazalpora area of Sopore.

SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal also confirmed the incident and said that the injured soldier was immediately evacuated to military hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile,  an army official identified the injured soldier as Brejesh Kumar and said that his  condition is said to be stable.

Searches in the area was on when last reports came in.(GNS)
